Kitty Knits Socks
sock knitting—the merging of visual and functional perfection
About
My name is Jaimie Mendoes, and I am a sock knitting specialist and educator currently living in Michigan with my husband and three cats.
My path into fiber arts is shaped by an unusual blend of disciplines. I was involved in classical music performance since childhood and was an active performer until my early 30s. I then quit music and taught ESL/EFL (English as a Second/Foreign Language) for almost 10 years. Towards the end of my teaching career, I taught live group classes on YouTube for two years, and the recorded classes were picked up by a cable TV channel in Korea and were aired there as well. A short while after I stopped teaching English, I began to crochet amigurumi, and after traveling further and deeper into the world of fiber arts, I found my true calling—sock knitting.
I believe truly beautiful hand-knit socks are not just visually pleasing. They function effectively as socks, not just as eye candy. That’s why I pay great attention to every detail of the sock knitting process and constantly test sock yarns to discover their inherent qualities. That’s what draws me ever closer to sock knitting—the merging of visual and functional perfection.
I hope to share my passion for truly beautiful hand-knit socks with many fiber enthusiasts. Thank you for visiting.
